Perched above the Lauterbrunnen Valley overlooking the unmistakable peak of the Eiger, the car-free village of Muerren must be seen to be believed. It is a true slice of heaven and peace on earth itself. Originally a small farming village, Muerren has developed into one of the most popular (but still small) resort destinations for Swiss lovers around the world. First made famous by British alpinist, Sir Arnold Lunn, who established Switzerland’s first ski club here in 1924, Muerren turned to tourism and never looked back. It’s no wonder, at an altitude of 5,413 feet above sea-level, the views of the alps are simply breathtaking. Please visit our Facebook page for pictures taken during the 2014 hiking season.
